Medical imaging for automated planning of neurosurgical operations

The report will cover two examples of AI application to the analysis of multidimensional multimodal neuroimaging data (MRI / fMRI) in real problems of neuroradiology: localization of functional brain areas responsible for speech, movement and vision, as well as localization of structural changes in the cerebral cortex, potential foci of epileptical activity. The first task is needed to maximize the preservation of healthy brain tissue, and as a result, the highest possible standard of living for the patient. The second is needed for identification and maximum resection of the pathological area of the brain in cases of severe epilepsy. These tasks differ in both the neuroimaging methods used and the data analysis methods, however, they are crucial for the pre-surgical planning of the operation, and the role of the radiologist is currently very large. Automation of these tasks will help to speed up and facilitate the work of a specialist, as well as in some cases improve the accuracy of diagnostics and avoid errors
