Prof. Dr. Steininger studied law at the University of Bonn and physics / mechanics at the University of Bonn and the Technical University Darmstadt. In 2001 he was admitted as a lawyer and received his doctorate with a dissertation on Russian law of purchase. In the technical field, Steininger is specialized in technical mechanics and hydrodynamics (hydrodynamic stability theory) and is currently conducting research is the field of systems theory on programs that illustrate legal examination schemes and social processes (feedback systems, stability theory and nonlinear differential equations). Prof. Dr. Steininger began his career as a lawyer at a major UK law firm and has worked since 2003 in the legislative consultancy in Baku (Azerbaijan) for modernisation of the civil legislation of Azerbaijan. From April 2005 Prof. Dr. Steininger worked as a lawyer for the Moscow representation of a German law firm in Moscow. In 2008, Prof. Dr. Steininger was appointed as a tenure professor of commercial law at the University of Wismar. In 2009, Prof. Dr. Steininger founded the Institute for "Law, Economy and Trade in the Baltic Sea Region e.V." in Wismar together with Minister of Economics a.D. Dr. Wolfgang Clement, which u.a. co-organizes the Russia Day Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and publishes a scientific law journal on East European law (Ost/Letter, see www.ostinstitut.de); Mr. Steininger is himself co-editor of various other specialist publications (such as WiRO manual, magazine WiRO, Beck-Verlag). Since 2011 Prof. Dr. Steininger works also as an Of Counsel for the Moscow office of BEITEN BURKHARDT.
